Activated Too Long
VA. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
Condition
If any of the buttons on the control panel have been activated for longer than 60 seconds diagnostic trouble code (DTC) PSL/PSR-423 is set.
Possible source
- One of the buttons has stuck in the down position.
- Defective control panel.
- Short-circuit to ground in wiring
- Defective control module.
Fault symptom(s)
- One or more seat motors operate only briefly before shutting down automatically.
- Seat does not operate.
- This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may occur without any fault symptom being apparent.
- Fault-tracing begins at VB. Activated too long.

VB1: Erasing diagnostic trouble code (DTC)
- Ignition OFF.
Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Wait one or two minutes so that the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has time to be set and read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) again.
Is the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) set again?
Yes:
- VB3
No:
- VB2
VB2: Fault-tracing information
A button has been pressed for more than 60 seconds. If the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not set again no further action need be taken.
Then continue with:
- Fault corrected
VB3: Checking function of the control buttons
Checking the function of all the control buttons on the panel.
Are any of the control buttons stuck down so they are
permanently activated?
Yes:
- VB4
No:
- VB5
VB4: Replace component
Free the sticking control button(s) or replace the control panel with a new one. Control Panel Replacement, Service and Repair
Then continue with:
- VB9
VB5: Connecting the break-out box
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect break-out box to 16-pin connector D.Connecting The Break-out Box
Then continue with:
- VB6
VB6: Check resistance to control buttons
- Ignition OFF.
- Break-out box connected.
Connect an ohmmeter between the positions for the respective control buttons on the break-out box.
The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance for all readings.
If reading is OK:
- VB8
If reading is incorrect:
- VB7
VB7: Checking for a short-circuit
Short-circuit to ground in the wire to a control button on the panel.
Check wiring for a short-circuit to ground.
Then continue with:
- VB9
VB8: Replace component
Try a new control module. Control module, Service and Repair
Then continue with:
- VB9
VB9: Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows.
- Ignition OFF.
Test all functions on the power seat using the control buttons and the memory buttons.
Are all functions operating correctly?
Yes:
- Fault corrected
No:
- VB10
VB10: Fault-tracing information
The verification result shows that the fault persists.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes:
- Fault not corrected
No:
