DTC 3-1-1, 3-1-2, 3-1-3, 3-1-4 and 3-1-5
DTC 3-1-1, 3-1-2, 3-1-3, 3-1-4 AND 3-1-5.DAMPER MOTOR LIVE WIRE SHORTING TO GROUND (GND) OR 12 V:
DTC 3-1-1 = Driver's side damper motor GND short or 12 V.
DTC 3-1-2 = Passenger's side damper motor GND short or 12 V.
DTC 3-1-3 = Ventilation damper motor GND short or 12 V.
DTC 3-1-4 = Floor/defrost damper motor GND short or 12 V.
DTC 3-1-5 = Recirculation damper motor GND short or 12 V.
- Condition for DTC:
If the supply voltage to the damper motor is faulty, the control module records the fault and stores the DTC.
- Cause of fault:
Wire to damper motor is shorted to 0 V or 12 V.
Symptoms:
Fault warning to driver. LEDs by A/C and REC buttons flash for 20 sec. Control module keeps damper motor switched off as long as fault persists.
Connect Test Unit To Control Module
- Ignition off.
- Connect test unit between control module and A/C system connector and check GND points. Connecting and Disconnecting Test Unit
- Go to the next step "Check Voltage To Damper Motor".
Check Voltage To Damper Motor:
- Ignition on.
- Connect a voltmeter to test unit # 10 (0 V) and:
Driver side damper motor, to test unit # 31.
Passenger side damper motor, to test unit # 33.
Ventilation damper motor, to test unit # 37.
Floor/defrost damper motor, to test unit # 35.
Recirculation damper motor, to test unit # 39.
- If value is OK, voltmeter should read approx. 0.4 V.
- If value is not OK, if voltmeter reads 0 V, wire is shorted to 0 V.
- If voltmeter reads 12 V, wire is shorted to 12 V.
Go to the next step "Check Wire".
Check Wire:
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect connector from damper motor. Service and Repair
- Check wires between wire connector pin 4 and 5 and connector B to control module for short: Checking Wires
Driver side damper motor to pin B:1 and B:2.
Passenger side damper motor to pin B:3 and B:4.
Ventilation damper motor to pin B:7 and B:8.
Floor/defrost damper motor to pin B:5 and B:6.
Recirculation damper motor to pin B:9 and B:1O.
Rectify short.
