Transfer Case Mount: Service and Repair
Transfer Case Carrier Bonded Rubber Bushing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Thrust Plate (VW 402)
• Thrust Disc (VW 412)
• Arbor 50 mm Dia. (VW 432)
• Base Block (VW 441)
• Tube (3296)
• Assembly Tool (T10214)
Removing
- Remove the transfer case carrier. Refer to => [ Transfer Case Carrier and Bracket ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the bonded rubber bushing.
Installing
- Install the new bonded rubber bushing using the thrust piece (T10214/3).
- Install the bonded rubber bushing - A - into the guide sleeve (T10214/2) using the thrust piece (T10214/3) until the thrust piece (T10214/3) is flush with the guide sleeve (T10214/2).
- Align the new bonded rubber bushing with the assembly tool (T10214) for the transfer case carrier.
- Align the bolts - A - and/or the notch - arrow - on the thrust piece (T10214/3) in the center of the holes in the transfer case carrier.
The spaces "x" must be the same.
- Install the bonded rubber bushing into the transfer case carrier until it is possible to turn the guide sleeve (T10214/2) by hand - arrows -.
Do not install the bonded rubber bushing any deeper into the transfer case carrier than the height of the tube (3296). Press it in further, using the base block (VW 441) , if necessary.
- Install the transfer case carrier. Refer to => [ Transfer Case Carrier and Bracket ] Service and Repair.
