Steel Spring Shock Absorber Overview
• Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.
• Always replace self-locking nuts.
• Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
• Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.
1 Nut
• 26 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
2 Support Bearing Cover
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
3 Nut
• 56 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
4 Support Bearing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
5 Shock Absorber Mount
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension
6 Upper Spring Washer
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Install the upper spring washer properly on the upper spring support. ] Rear Suspension.
7 Upper Spring Support
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Install the upper spring washer properly on the upper spring support. ] Rear Suspension.
8 Boot
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Engage the boot with the retaining tabs of the stop cap. ] Rear Suspension.
9 Buffer Stop
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Engage the stop buffer in the boot
. ] Rear Suspension.
10 Coil Spring
• Surface of spring coil may not be damaged.
• Note the color code. Refer to => [ Color Code on the Coil Spring ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Allocation.
• Pay attention to the allocation of the spacers. Refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Allocation ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Allocation.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ The end of the lower spring coil must rest on the stop of the lower spring support. ] Rear Suspension.
11 Lower Spring Support
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Install the lower spring support properly in the spring washer. ] Rear Suspension.
12 Lower Spring Washer
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Install the lower spring support properly in the spring washer. ] Rear Suspension.
13 Spacing Disc
• Note installed position. Refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Installation Position ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Installation Position.
• Pay attention to the allocation of the spacers. Refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Allocation ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber Spacer Allocation.
14 Stop Cap
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
15 Spring Plate
