Rear Suspension Overview
• Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.
• Always replace self-locking nuts.
• Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
• Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). 1 Body
2 Bolt
• M10 x 1.5 x 115
• 50 Nm + 180° turn
• Always replace if removed.
• Follow the tightening sequence for the steel spring shock absorber.
• Left tightening sequence, refer to => [ Follow the tightening sequence for the left side. ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber.
• Right tightening sequence, refer to => [ Follow the tightening sequence for the right side. ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber.
• Follow the tightening sequence for the air spring shock absorber.
• Left tightening sequence, refer to => [ Follow the tightening sequence for the left side. ] Rear Suspension.
• Right tightening sequence, refer to => [ Follow the tightening sequence for the right side. ] Rear Suspension.
3 Bolt
• M10 x 1.5 x 160
• 50 Nm + 180° turn
• Always replace if removed.
4 Steel Spring Shock Absorber
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Steel Spring Shock Absorber.
• Servicing, refer to => [ Steel Spring Shock Absorber ] Rear Suspension.
5 Bolt
• Always replace if removed.
6 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Service and Repair.
7 Coupling Rod
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Coupling Rod ] Coupling Rod.
8 Nut
• 90 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace if removed.
9 Air Spring Shock Absorber
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Spring Damper ] Rear Suspension.
• Servicing, refer to => [ Air Spring Shock Absorber ] Overhaul.
