Transverse Link and Tie Rod Overview

Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.

Always replace self-locking nuts.

Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.

Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). 1 Subframe

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Subframe ] Service and Repair.

2 Eccentric Washer

Inner bore with tab.

3 Tie Rod

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Tie Rod ] Tie Rod.

4 Eccentric Bolt

Perform a vehicle alignment after loosening.

Do not turn more than 90° right or left (that is smallest to largest possible adjustment).

5 Nut

170 Nm

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

6 Bolt

150 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

7 Bolt

Always replace if removed.

8 Nut

90 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

9 Nut

Always replace if removed.

10 Upper Rear Transverse Link

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Upper Rear Transverse Link ] Upper Rear Transverse Link.

11 Wheel Bearing Housing

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Service and Repair.

12 Nut

Always replace if removed.

13 Bolt

150 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

14 Bolt

150 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

15 Nut

Always replace if removed.

16 Upper Front Transverse Link

Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Upper Front Transverse Link ] Upper Front Transverse Link.

17 Nut

90 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

18 Bolt

Always replace if removed.

19 Stone Protection Plate

For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

20 Expanding Rivet

For the correct allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

21 Bolt

Always replace if removed.

22 Lower Transverse Link

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Lower Transverse Link ] Lower Transverse Link.

23 Nut

150 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

Always tighten the threaded connection in the curb weight position => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position.

24 Eccentric Bolt

Perform a vehicle alignment after loosening.

25 Eccentric Washer

Inner bore with tab.

26 Nut

170 Nm

Always replace if removed.

27 Bolt

150 Nm + 90° turn

Always replace if removed.

28 Nut

Always replace if removed.
