Steering Mounted Controls Communication Module: Description and Operation

Steering Column Electronic Control Module (J527)

The Airbag spiral spring/return spring with slip ring (F138) and the Steering angle sensor (G85) are integrated in the Steering column electronic systems control module (J527).

• After installing a new steering column electronics control module, it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), Coding ] Testing and Inspection.

• If the steering column switch is faulty, then perform an output diagnostic test for the steering column electronics control module.

• The steering column electronics control module can be checked via the output diagnostic test.
