Rear Parking Aid Sensors

Rear Parking Aid Sensors

Removal and installation of sensors for parking assistance, rear, is performed in the same way for all sensors and is only described for one sensor.

Removal

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

Always follow the sequence for removing the sensor.

Otherwise, the sensor may be damaged. Hairline cracks which lead to sensor failure can develop if too much force is used on the sensor.

Remove the sensor from the bracket and then disconnect the sensor connectors.

- Remove rear bumper cover.

- Open the tabs - arrows - and remove the sensor - 2 - from the bracket - 1 - on the bumper cover with the connector still connected.

When removing the sensor, make sure that the coupling ring (black silicone ring) remains on the sensor head and not in the holder or that it gets lost.

Do not bend the coupling ring.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - and remove the sensor.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

When installing the sensor, make sure the coupling ring is correctly mounted on the sensor head and that it does not fall off or become jammed when inserting into the sensor holder.

Both retaining clips on the sensor holder must engage audibly when installing sensor.

- Check sensor for correct seating. Dimension - a - on the outside of the bumper cover must be the same all the way around.
