Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair



















Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming


The general safety precautions for working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnic components) must be observed. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Safety Precautions Service Precautions

Observe the special information regarding driver and front passenger airbags. Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.


Disconnecting and Reconnecting The Battery


Risk of injury. Follow all Warnings and Safety Precautions. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.


Always follow the procedure in the repair information when disconnecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Disconnecting

- Disconnect negative ( - ) terminal - 1 - from battery.





- Disconnect positive ( B+ ) terminal - 2 - from battery.

Reconnecting

- Connect the battery positive clamp - 2 - to the battery positive terminal.






- Tighten bolt on the battery positive terminal to 6 Nm.

- Only after the positive ( B+ ) terminal has been secured should negative ( - ) terminal clamp - 1 - be installed.

- Tighten the bolt on the battery negative terminal to 6 Nm.

Disarming

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the vehicle battery.

Arming

- Switch the ignition on.


Make sure that no persons are in the vehicle.

- Connect the vehicle battery.
