Incorrect Fuel Protection

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Lock Ring Pliers

Removing

Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

- Open the fuel filler door.






- Clean the area around the fuel filler tube.

- Remove the fuel filler cap - arrow -.

- Release the tab for the locking ring using a TORX(R) screwdriver - arrow -.






- Insert the lock ring pliers into both holes - arrows -.






- Turn the lock ring counterclockwise 25°.

- Tilt the lock ring inside the fuel filler tube and remove it through the fuel cap opening - arrows -.






- Remove the incorrect fuel protection from the fuel filler tube - arrow -. Use the lock ring pliers if necessary.






Installing






Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the incorrect fuel protection into the fuel filler tube.

• The tab on the incorrect fuel protection must fit into the groove in the fuel filler tube - arrows -.

- Turn the lock ring 25° clockwise and install it using the lock ring pliers.






- If installed correctly, the marks on the lock ring and on the fuel filler tube will be opposite each other - arrows -.
