Instrument Cluster
When disconnecting and connecting the battery, always perform the work procedure as described in the repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair. Not following the sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
• Instrument cluster component functions can be checked On Board Diagnostic (OBD) program function "Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)".

The following components are integrated in the instrument cluster:
• Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285)
• Fuel Gauge (G)
• Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169)
• Speedometer (G21)
• Tachometer (G5)
• Trip odometer reset switch
• Speaker in instrument cluster
• Indicator lamp, refer to => [ Warning Lamp Symbols, Instrument Cluster ] Locations.
All warning and indicator lamps are equipped with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) which cannot be serviced or replaced separately. In the event of malfunctions, the complete instrument cluster must be replaced. Refer to => [ Instrument Cluster, Replacing ] Instrument Cluster, Replacing.
DTC Recognition and Display
The instrument cluster is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capabilities which assists with troubleshooting.
The "Guided Fault Finding" function is to be used for troubleshooting of the systems described as in => [ Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information Systems ] Testing and Inspection.
