Engine Carrier
Removing
- Remove the left and right engine mounts. Refer to => [ Engine Mounts ] Engine Mounts.
- Remove the front - 1 - and rear - 2 - noise insulation bolts and insulation.
- Remove the steering gear heat shield - A - bolt and shield from the steering gear.
Risk of distorting the airbag spiral spring.
• Separate the universal joint from the steering gear only when the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.
• Secure the steering wheel with adhesive tape to prevent the position of the steering wheel and steering gear from changing.
- Remove the universal joint bolt - B -.
- Separate the universal joint from the steering gear.
- Remove the left and right coupling rod bolts/nuts - arrow - from the stabilizer bar.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and ground connection from the right longitudinal member.
- Mark the location of the subframe and engine carrier to the longitudinal members with a felt tip marker.
There is the risk of an accident.
• The bolts - 1 and 2 - must remain installed.
- Remove the bolts - 3 and 4 - and lower the subframe with the engine carrier.
- Remove the engine carrier forward.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Engine Carrier, Engine Mount and Bracket Overview ] Engine Carrier, Engine Mount and Bracket Overview.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install the subframe and engine carrier.
- Install the left and right engine mounts. Refer to => [ Engine Mounts ] Engine Mounts.
- Install the coupling rods to the stabilizer bar.
- Install the steering column universal joint to the steering gear.
