Roof Edge Spoiler
Removing
• The spoiler on the edge of the roof cannot be removed without destroying it.
When disassembling roof edge spoiler, a cutting cable must not be used because of the danger of damaging painted surfaces.
• Remove dirt from all all joints, so that no paint damage can occur during removal of attachment parts.
• Cover all adjacent paint surfaces and gap between roof and rear lid with tape.
Perform the following:
- Guide the cutting wire (357 853 999 A) - 4 - at one corner between the rear lid - 3 - and the spoiler on the edge of the roof - 1 -.
• A second technician is needed to cut the roof edge spoiler.
- Using a "sawing" motion, cut through the adhesive bead, the adhesive points and the adhesive tape on one side up the center of the roof edge spoiler using both pull grips (V.A.G 1351/1) - 2 -.
- Cut through the adhesive on the other side.
- Remove the spoiler - 1 -.
Installing
Perform the following:
- Preparing bodywork for adhesion, refer to => [ Preparing Bodywork for Adhesive ] Preparing Bodywork for Adhesive
- New Attachment, Preparing for Bonding, refer to => [ Preparing Components for Adhesion ] Preparing Components for Adhesion
- Preparing components for adhesion, refer to => [ Preparing Components for Adhesion ] Preparing Components for Adhesion
• Surfaces of roof edge spoiler - 1 - and rear lid are primed.
- Apply 2K-window adhesive (DA 004 600 A2) with the double cartridge gun (VAS 5237) - 5 - on the specified locations - 3 - on the left and right sides of the roof spoiler - 2 -.
- Peel off the protective film from the two-sided adhesive tape - 4 -.
- Position the roof spoiler - 2 - on the rear lid - 1 - with a second technician.
• Make sure the spoiler - 2 - fits correctly.
- Firmly press on the roof spoiler - 2 - and secure it with cloth reinforced tape.
