Protective Cap For Wiring Harness Connector (VAS 6223/9)

Removal

- If the control module is replaced, select the "Replacement" function for the appropriate control module in "Guided Fault Finding".

Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing & Information System (VAS 5051B)..

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

- Fold up the center of the luggage compartment floor in the luggage compartment.

- Remove the cover from the lock carrier..

- Remove the tie-downs.

- Remove the right section of the luggage compartment floor.

- Remove the right D-pillar trim..

- Remove the retaining clip - arrow -.






- Unclip the side panel trim at the side window. Carefully press the side panel trim in the - direction of the arrow - a bit to the side.






- Disconnect the harness connectors from the switches in the side panel trim. If necessary, unclip the interior lamp from the side panel trim.

- Press the upper and lower locking mechanisms - arrow - on the radio.






- Remove the radio in the - direction of the arrow -.






- Disconnect the harness connectors from the radio.

- Disconnect the fiber-optic cable from the radio and attach the protective cap (VAS 6223/9) to the disconnected fiber-optic cable connection.

Fiber-optic cable is very delicate!

The fiber-optic cable must not be kinked or significantly bent!

The bending radius must not be less than 25 mm.

A kinked fiber-optic cable is no longer usable, data transfer via kinked fiber-optic cable is faulty!

Please do not remove the protective caps from the ends of the fiber-optic cable until the fiber-optic cable is connected to the intended unit.

Installation:

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

When replacing radio navigation system control modules, it is necessary to adapt the replaced control modules to the vehicle. If this is not performed, component protection is activated for these control modules so that they do not work or only on a highly limited basis.
