1 Bolt

• There are different versions.

• Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog

• There are 2 types of twelve-point bolts, with and without ribs. Distinguishing characteristic => [ Differences Between A Twelve-Point Bolt With Ribs And A Twelve-Point Bolt Without Ribs ]

• When installing a twelve-point bolt, always check what type of twelve-point bolt is to be used.

• Use the correct tightening specification for the specific bolt.

• The tightening specification for a twelve-point bolt with ribs is 70 Nm + 90°. For loosening and tightening specifications, refer to => [ Twelve-Point Bolt with Ribs, Loosening and Tightening, Driveshaft Threaded Connection ] Twelve-Point Bolt with Ribs, Loosening and Tightening, Driveshaft Threaded Connection.

• The tightening specification for a twelve-point bolt without ribs is 200 Nm + 180°. • Always replace if removed.

2 Outer CV Joint

• Replace only as complete unit.

• Removing => [ Removing The Outer CV Joint ] Front Suspension

• Installing: Drive onto shaft until impact using plastic hammer

3 Locking Ring

• Always replace if removed.

• Insert in shaft groove

4 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning => [ Tightening Hose Clamp On Outer Joint ] Front Suspension

5 Protective Boot

• Check for tears and scuffing

• Material: Hytrel (Polyelastomer)

6 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning => [ Tensioning Clamp On Small Diameter ] Front Suspension

7 Driveshaft

8 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning => [ Tensioning Clamp On Small Diameter ] Front Suspension

9 CV Boot

• Material: Hytrel (Polyelastomer)

• Without vent hole

• Check for tears and scuffing

• Drive off CV joint using drift

• Before mounting onto CV joint, coat sealing surface using (D 454 300 A2)

10 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning => [ Tightening Hose Clamp On Outer Joint ] Front Suspension

11 Locking Plate

12 Cover

• Carefully drive off using a drift

• Before mounting onto CV joint, coat sealing surface using (D 454 300 A2)

• Adhesive surface must be free of oil and grease

13 Inner CV Joint

• Replace only as complete unit.

• Removing, refer to => [ Removing The Inner CV Joint ] Front Suspension

• Installing, refer to => [ Pressing on inner CV joint ] Front Suspension

• Checking, refer to => [ Inner CV Joint, Checking ] Inner CV Joint, Checking

14 Locking Ring

• Remove and install using snap ring pliers (VW 161 A)

15 Cover

• Always replace if removed.

• Always replace if removed

16 Internal Multi-Point Bolt

• M10 x 52

• first tighten diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten diagonally again to the tightening specification

• 70 Nm

• After disassembly, always replace bolts
