Combustion Chamber Teflon(R) Seal and Support Washer

The "long" fuel injectors for cylinders 1, 3 and 5 must not be separated.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Tool Set (T10133)

Replacing/Installing the Combustion Chamber Teflon(R) Seal

- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to => [ Upper Intake Manifold ] Upper Intake Manifold.

- Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to => [ Fuel Injectors ] Fuel Injectors.

- Clean the fuel injector carefully.

- Cut the Teflon(R) seal - arrow - carefully with a knife. When doing, make sure the blade of the knife does not come in contact with the injector body.

- Remove the old seal and clean the groove - arrow -. Remove any deposits (coking) using a brass wire brush.






- Place the new seal - 1 - on the assembly cone (T10133/5). Push the seal gently onto the assembly cone (T10133/5) as far as it will go using the guide sleeve (T10133/6) (the knurled side faces the seal - 1 -).






- Turn over the guide sleeve (T10133/6) (the knurled side no longer faces the seal) and push the seal - 1 - further onto the assembly cone (T10133/5).






- Place the assembly cone (T10133/5) with the seal onto the fuel injector. Push the seal further onto the fuel injector using the guide sleeve (T10133/6).

The seal no longer sits in its groove.






- Remove the guide sleeve (T10133/6) and the assembly cone (T10133/5).

- Push the seal into the groove by hand.

- Place the spacer sleeve (T10133/11) on the injector.

- Push the calibrating sleeve (T10133/7) all the way over the seal and on the spacer sleeve (T10133/11).

- Remove the calibrating sleeve (T10133/7).






- Push the calibrating sleeve (T10133/8) all the way over the seal and on the spacer sleeve (T10133/11).

- Remove the calibrating sleeve (T10133/8).

The combustion chamber Teflon(R) seal now has the correct installed dimension.






Removing/Installing the Support Washer






- Remove the O-ring - 3 -.

- Cut the support washer - 2 - with a small knife and then remove it.

- Remove the spring from the fuel injector - 1 - and install the locking plate (T10133/12).

- Place a new support washer - 1 - on the assembly cone (T10133/13) and then place this onto the fuel injector as illustrated.






- Push the support washer - 1 - into the first groove - arrow - on the fuel injector using the calibrating sleeve (T10133/14) (the knurled side faces the fuel injector).

- Turn over the calibrating sleeve (T10133/14) (the knurled side no longer faces the fuel injector). Push the calibrating sleeve over the support washer - 1 - in the - direction of the arrow - all the way onto the locking plate (T10133/12).






- Pull the calibrating sleeve (T10133/14) downward.

The support washer is now the correct size.

- Install a new spring - 1 - on the locking plate (T10133/12) and place a new O-ring - 3 - in front of the support washer - 2 -.






The combustion chamber Teflon(R) seal - arrow - must not be oiled when installing the fuel injector.

The seal (- item 4 - in the => [ Fuel Injector Overview, Cylinders 1, 3 and 5 ] Fuel Injector Overview, Cylinders 1, 3 and 5) must also be replaced on fuel injectors for cylinders 1, 3 and 5.






- Install the fuel injectors.
