Dust and Pollen Filter with Activated Charcoal Insert

A dust and pollen filter with additional activated charcoal filter insert is installed together with the air quality sensor (G238).

The filter with activated charcoal insert continues to work as a dust and pollen filter. It can also filter out gaseous pollutants such as ozone, benzene, nitrogen, etc. from the air coming into the vehicle.

The activated charcoal is designed to absorb the gaseous pollutants in the air flow until the fresh-air door is closed and the air conditioner is operating in recirculated-air mode. The change over from fresh to recirculating mode occurs via the Climatronic Control Module (J255) , as soon as the air quality sensor detects gaseous pollutants in the ambient air (the "automatic recirculating" mode must be selected).
