Mount (T40093/5) , from the Engine Support Supplement Set (T40093)

Moveable Joint (T40093/4) (Qty: 2), from the Engine Support Supplement Set (T40093)

Moveable Joint (T40091/3) (Qty: 2), from the Engine Support Basic Set (T40091)

Engine Support Bridge (10-222 A)

Adapter (10-222 A/28)

Shackle (10-222 A/12)

Adapter (10-222 A/28-2) (Qty: 2)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Procedure

Note the following whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:

Route all lines and wires in their original locations.

Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

Danger of causing damage to the coupling element.

Do not bend the coupling element more than 10°.

Do not stretch the coupling element.

Do not damage the wire mesh on the coupling element.

- Remove the exhaust system suspended mount bolts - arrows - from the subfame.






- Remove the pendulum support to subframe bolt - 1 -.






- Then, remove the pendulum support to transmission bolts - 2 and 3 -.

- Remove the pendulum support.

- Remove the air filter housing and the air filter housing bracket. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Remove the plenum chamber cover.

- Remove the left and right lock carrier bracket rear bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the lower mounts from the adapters (10-222 A/28) and replace them with the adapters (10-222 A/28-2).






- Remove the bolts - arrows - from the adapters (10-222 A /28-2).

- Use the bolts - arrows - from the adapters (10-222 A/28-2) to secure the adapters (10-222 A/28) to the lock carrier. Do not use the bolts for the lock carrier brackets.






- Tighten the bolts - arrows - to 8 Nm.

A second technician is needed to install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) to the vehicle in order to prevent the engine support bridge from tipping.

Install the engine support bridge as follows:






1. Adapter (10-222 A/31-2)

2. Moveable joint (T40091/3)

3. Adapter (10-222 A/31-1)

4. Moveable joint (T40093/4)

5. Square pipe (T40091/1)

6. Adapter (10-222 A/28) with adapter (10-222 A/28-2)

7. Bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10)


- Install moveable joints (T40091/3) (- 2 -) onto the square pipe of the engine support bridge (10-222 A).

The moveable joint (T40091/3) (- 2 -) bolts, when installed on the square pipe face the front.

- Install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) to the strut towers and have a second technician hold it to prevent it from falling over.

- Install the moveable joints (T40093/4) (- 4 -) onto the square pipes (T40091/1) (- 5 -).

- Install the square pipes (T40091/1) (- 5 -) on the left and right sides, through the adapters (10-222 A/28) (- 6 -) and the moveable joint (T40091/3) (- 2 -).

- Install the bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10) (- 7 -) to the right side square pipe (T40091/1).

- Install the rail with holes (T40091/2) (- 9 -) with the mount (T40093/5) (- 10 -) into the moveable joints (T40093/4) (- 4 -).

2. Moveable joint (T40091/3)

3. Adapter (10-222 A/31-1)

4. Moveable joint (T40093/4)

5. Square pipe (T40091/1)

6. Adapter (10-222 A/28) with adapter (10-222 A/28-2)

7. Bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10)

8. Adapter (10-222 A/7)

9. Rail with holes (T40091/2)

10. Mount (T40093/5)

11. Spindle (10-222 A/11)

12. Shackle (10-222 A/12)


- Insert the locking pins into the rail with holes (T40091/2) (- 9 -) and secure them with the cotter pins.

- Tighten all threaded connections on the engine support bridge (10-222 A) hand tight. Adjust the height of the engine support bridge (10-222 A) parallel over the adapter (10-222 A/28).

- Lengthen the right bracket with spindle and hook (10-222 A/10) (- 7 -) using the adapter (10-222 A/7) (- 8 -).

The hook on the adapter (10-222 A/7) faces downward and will be attached to the cylinder block later.

- Attach the left spindle (10-222 A/11) (- 11 -) to the shackle (10-222 A/12) (- 12 -).

- Position the spindles and hold the engine and transmission. Do not lift.
