Cylinder Block Overview, Belt Pulley Side
• The engine is to be secured to the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095) when performing repair work.
• If large quantities of metal particles or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings are damaged. To prevent subsequent damage, the following work must be performed after the repair:
• Clean the oil passages carefully.
• Replace the oil check valve.
• Replace the oil spray jets.
• Replace the engine oil cooler.
• Replace the oil filter element.
1 Ribbed Belt

2 Vibration Damper
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Vibration Damper ] Service and Repair.
• Ribbed belt removing and installing. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
3 Bolt
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Vibration Damper ] Service and Repair.
4 Bolt
• 10 Nm
5 Bolt
• 20 Nm
6 Coolant Pump Pulley
7 Bolt
• 50 Nm
8 Ribbed Belt Tensioner
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Tensioner ] Service and Repair.
9 Sealing Flange
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Sealing Flange, Belt Pulley Side ] Service and Repair.
• Coat the sealing surfaces with silicone adhesive sealant (D 176 501 A1).

• 8 Nm
11 Coolant Pump

12 Cylinder Block
