Input Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295)

• Adapter (VW 295 A)

• Thrust Tube (VW 454)

• Press Tube (2040)

Removing

- Remove the transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission, Removing ] Transmission, Removing.

- Remove the clutch release lever with the release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to => [ Clutch Release Mechanism Overview ] Clutch Release Mechanism Overview.

- Remove the seal from out of the guiding sleeve.






Installing

- Lightly oil the new seal on outer circumference.






- Fill the area between the sealing and dust lips - arrow - halfway with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).

- Install the seal all the way into the guide sleeve.






- Install the clutch release lever with the release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to => [ Clutch Release Mechanism Overview ] Clutch Release Mechanism Overview.

- Install the transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission, Installing ] Transmission, Installing.
