Wheel Bearing Housing and Wheel Bearing Unit Assembly Overview
1 Bolt
• 50 Nm + 90°
• Always replace if removed.
2 Cover
3 Bracket
4 Bolt
• 90 Nm + 90°
• Always replace if removed.
5 Coupling Rod
• Connects stabilizer to trailing link/wheel bearing housing
6 Bolt
• 90 Nm + 90°
• Follow tightening sequence => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Removal and Replacement
• Always replace if removed.
7 Bolt
• 8 Nm
8 Right Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G44) / Left Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G46)
• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding using the Vehicle diagnostic tester
• Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface of mounting hole and coat with Polycarbamide grease (G 000 650)
9 Bonded Rubber Bushing
• Replace, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing, Replacing ] Service and Repair
10 Trailing Link
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Mounting Bracket ] Removal and Replacement
• Servicing, refer to => [ Trailing Arm ] Overhaul
11 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing
12 Nut
• 45 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
13 Bonded Rubber Bushing
• Replace => [ Trailing Arm ] Overhaul
14 Bolt
• 4 Nm
15 Brake Rotor
16 Dust Cap
• Always replace if removed.
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit
An appropriate seal can only be achieved with a new dust cap.
17 Bolt
• 180 Nm + 180°
• Loosen and tighten using bit XZN 18 (T10162)
• Always replace if removed.
18 Wheel bearing unit
• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing
• Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Unit ] Wheel Bearing Unit
The wheel bearing and wheel hub are installed together in a housing.
The wheel bearing unit is maintenance free and has zero play. Adjusting or servicing is not possible!
