Headlamps







Headlamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing and installing the left headlamp is shown in the illustrations. Removing and installing the right headlamp is identical.

Check headlamp adjustment and adjust the headlamps.

Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

Remove the key.

Removing

Tape off the edges on the headlamp and on the body when removing and installing headlamps.

- Remove the radiator grille.

- Disconnect the connector - arrow - from the headlamp.






- Remove the screws - 2 - and - 4 - from the top of the headlamp.






- Remove the screws on the front - 1 - and on the back - 3 - of the headlamp.

- Remove the headlamp forward from the opening in the body.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Make sure the tab fits into the opening in the headlamp - arrow -.






- Install the top bolts - 2 - and - 4 - first.






- Then install the screw - 1 - on the front of the headlamp.

- Then install the screw - 3 - on the bottom of the headlamp.

- Connect and lock the connector to the headlamp.

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamps Overview ] Halogen Headlamps Overview.

- Make sure the gap around the headlamp is even all the way around.

If the gap is uneven, then adjust the headlamp installed position. Refer to => [ Headlamps, Aiming ] Headlamps, Aiming.

- Check headlamp for functions.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust the headlamps.
