Multifunction Buttons






Multifunction Buttons

The left multifunction buttons on steering wheel (E440) and the right multifunction buttons on steering wheel (E441) may be permanently connected to each other, depending on the vehicle equipment. In this case, then both multifunction buttons inside the steering wheel must be removed and installed.

The multifunction steering wheel control module (J453) is inside the left multifunction buttons on steering wheel.

The following illustrations and procedures describe removing and installing the left multifunction buttons on steering wheel.

Removing and installing the right multifunction buttons on steering wheel is identical.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the key.

- Remove the driver side airbag unit.

- Remove the bolt - arrow -.






- Remove the left multifunction buttons on steering wheel.

- Disconnect the connector, if necessary.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Make sure the wires between the two blocks of buttons inside the steering wheel are routed exactly as shown in the illustration - 1 -.






- Code the steering column electronics control module (J527) :

Procedure

Select "Guided Functions" or "Guided Fault Finding" in Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

After all control modules have been checked:

Code the steering column electronics control module.

After all control modules have been checked:

- Press "GO TO".

- Select "Functions/Component selection".

- Select "Body".

- Select "Electrical Equipment".

- Select "01 - Systems capable of self-diagnosis".

- Select "Steering Column Electronics".

- Select "Code Control Unit Function".
