High Pressure Pump






High Pressure Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Camshaft Gear Counter-Holder (T10051)

Puller (T40064)

Pressure Pad for T40064 Tool (T40064/1)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

Observe the safety precautions, refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

Follow the guidelines for a clean working environment when working on the fuel system. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Always follow these rules before and during work.

Allowing the high pressure pump to run dry will destroy it.

The high pressure pump must be filled with fuel before starting the engine for the first time. Do not allow the high pressure pump to run dry. First fuel filling, refer to => [ Fuel System, Filling and Bleeding ] Fuel System, Filling and Bleeding.

- Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft and the high pressure pump. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.

- Remove the bolts - 2 -, then remove the toothed belt sprocket from the high pressure pump.






- Counter hold using the camshaft gear counter-holder (T10051) to remove the nut - 1 - on the high pressure pump hub.






- Install the puller (T40064) with the pressure pad for T40064 tool (T40064/1) and bolts (T40064/2) as shown, and remove the hub for the high pressure pump. Counter hold with a 24 mm open end wrench, if necessary.






- Remove the bolts - 2 - and set the coolant supply line aside.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and set the fuel return line aside.






- Remove the bolt - 2 - and union nuts - 1 and 3 -, then remove the high pressure line.






- Disconnect and remove the connectors - 1 and 3 -.






- Disconnect the fuel supply hose - 2 - and return hose - 4 -.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - and bolt - 2 - for the support - A - and remove the support.

Continuation for All






- Remove the high pressure pump bolts - arrows -.

- Carefully remove the high pressure pump.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

- Carefully install the high pressure pump and tighten the bolts - arrows -.

- Install the toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.

- Install the high pressure line. Refer to => [ High Pressure Line, Installing ] Service and Repair.
