Charge Air Cooling Pump V188

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Refractometer (T10007)

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6340)

Cooling System Charge Unit (VAS 6096)

Adapter (V.A.G 1274/8)

Hose Clamps, up to 40 mm (3093)

Removing

The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Reduce pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Loosen the fasteners - arrows - and remove the oil pan noise insulation - 1 -.






- Release and disconnect the connector - 4 - from the charge air cooling pump.






- Clamp off the hoses - 5 - using the hose clamps up to 40 mm (3093).

- Remove the coolant hoses - 5 - from the charge air cooling pump - 1 - by loosening the clamps.

- Remove the mount bolts - arrows -.

- Remove the mount - 2 - and the charge air cooling pump - 1 -.

If only the charge air cooling pump - 1 - is removed:

- Release and disconnect the connector - 4 - from the charge air cooling pump.






- Connect the coolant hoses - 5 - to the charge air cooling pump - 1 - by tightening the clamps.

- Remove the hose clamps up to 40 mm (3093).

- Install charge air cooling pump bolts - 3 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
