Roof Reinforcement, Attaching to Body
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A)
• Blade, offset (V.A.G 1561/20)
• Cartridge gun (V.A.G 1628)
• Release lever (T10039)
• Trim removal wedge (T10039 /1)
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1783)
Removing
Vehicles without sunroof
- Remove the roof trim panel.
- Cut the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - and - 2 - with a carpet knife in strips - 5 - approximately 6 cm wide - broken lines -.
- Remove the strips - 5 - from the roof.
- Remove any remaining adhesive - 3 - using electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A) and cutting blade (V.A.G 1561/20) - 4 -.
• If paint structure was damaged while removing roof insulation/reinforcements, paint damage must be repaired according to the specifications in the => Paint Repair Information.
Installation
• Processing instructions of adhesive must be observed when installing roof insulation/reinforcements.
- Measure the width of the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - and - 2 - and mark the center on both sides.
- Apply 1K assembly adhesive (D 190 MKD A3) to the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - and - 2 - using hand cartridge gun (V.A.G 1628).
- Apply the 1K assembly adhesive in beads according to the following dimensions:
• Dimension - a - = 70 mm
• Dimension - b - = 25 mm
• Dimension- c - = 33 mm
• Dimension - d - = 85 mm
- Guide the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - into the vehicle in - direction of arrow -.
- Position the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - on the roof from the inside according to - dimension a - and - dimension b - and press on the entire surface.
- Guide the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 2 - into the vehicle in - direction of arrow -.
- Position the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 2 - on the roof from the inside according to - dimension a - and - dimension b - and press on the entire surface.
Dimension a = 30 mm
Dimension b = center of the roof and center of the noise insulation/roof reinforcements
• The connection for the roof antenna can also be used as a point of reference for the center of the roof.

- Remove the strips - 4 - from the roof.
- Remove any remaining adhesive - 3 - using electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A) and cutting blade (V.A.G 1561/20) - 3 -.

- Position the noise insulation/roof reinforcements - 1 - on the roof - 2 - from the inside according to - dimension a - and - dimension b - and then press on the entire surface.
Dimension a = 96 mm
Dimension b = center of the roof and center of the noise insulation/roof reinforcement
• The connection for the roof antenna can also be used as a point of reference for the center of the roof.
