Amplifier: Service and Repair






Amplifier (R12)

Familiarity with the functions and operation is essential in the event of customer concerns. Refer to Owner's Manual.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester for Servicing or Troubleshooting.

Check all vehicle equipment (clock, Convenience System, etc.) after connecting the battery.

Remove the module carrier

Read the measured values

Amplifier (R12)





The amplifier - 1 - expands the sound of the radios/RNS (RX1).

The amplifier - 1 - has 10-channel technology.

The radios/RNS speaker outputs control the signal inputs - 2 - on the amplifier - 1 -.

The amplifier - 1 - is installed under the left front seat.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the key.

- Move the left front to its highest position and then move it all the way back.






- Unlock the rear left and right cover - 1 - in direction of arrow - A -.

- Pull the cover forward - 1 - in direction of arrow - B -.

- Remove the screws - 4 - from the amplifier - 2 -.

- Pull the amplifier - 2 - out just enough until the connector - 3 - is accessible.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 - from the amplifier - 2 -.

- Remove the amplifier - 2 -.

Installing

When installing, make sure the amplifier - 1 - is pushed in correctly into the mount - 2 - on the module carrier.






Install in reverse order of removal.

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification (6 Nm).

Make sure the cover is mounted correctly on the front edge of the module carrier when installing it.

Lock the cover by the left and right rear catches.

Remove the module carrier for the amplifier






- Remove the screws - 1 - (1.2 Nm ) from the center tunnel and the screws - 2 - (6 Nm) from the bracket.

- Remove the module carrier - 5 -.

- Remove the nuts - 3 - (6 Nm) from the bracket.

- Remove the bracket - 4 -.

Installing the module carrier for the amplifier

Install in reverse order of removal.

Amplifier, Reading Measured Values

Procedure

- Select "Guided Fault Finding" in Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

- Press "GO TO".

- Select "Functions/Component selection".

- Select "Body".

- Select "Electrical Equipment".

- Select "01 - Systems capable of self-diagnosis".

- Select the "Sound System".

- Select "Sound System Functions".

- Select "Sound System Measured Values".
