Clutch Cover, Installing

There are two types of covers.

Covers Delivered without a Bushing

Always replace the cover and the circlip. Never use a hammer to install the cover and never lubricate the center seal or touch it.







Do not touch the hole in the center of a new cover. The cover must not be touched inside the hole, lubricated or come into contact with any other substances in that area. Leaks will develop.

- Hold the cover only as illustrated.






Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Guide Sleeve (T10302)


Clean the guide sleeve before use and do not use scratched guide sleeves.

The new cover must not have any oil in the area around the center seal and it must be dry.

- Clean the end of the clutch shaft if necessary.

Do not apply adhesive to the inside of the cover.

- If this is done, carefully remove the adhesive!

Only lubricate the outer edge of the seal with DSG transmission fluid.

- Place the guide sleeve on a level surface

The center seal on the new cover must now be preformed:

- Install the cover horizontally and evenly over the entire guide sleeve. This bring the sealing lip into its installed position.






- Remove the guide sleeve upward out of the cover and place it on the end of the clutch shaft.

- Guide the cover horizontally over the guide sleeve and press it evenly onto its seat.







Handle with care. If the cover is hit in any way, leakage will definitely occur.

The cover can be pried out of its seat using a - screwdriver - to install the new circlip.






- Install the new circlip.

Covers Delivered with a Bushing

Always replace the cover and the circlip. Never use a hammer to install the cover and never lubricate the center seal or touch it.

Do not remove the bushing!






The new cover must not have any oil in the around the center seal and it must be dry.

- Clean the end of the clutch shaft if necessary.

Do not apply adhesive to the inside of the cover.

- If this is done, carefully remove the adhesive!

Only lubricate the outer edge of the seal with DSG transmission fluid.

- Install the cover with the bushing.







Handle with care. If the cover is hit in any way, leakage will definitely occur.

The cover can be pried out of its seat using a - screwdriver - to install the new circlip.






- Install the new circlip.

- Only remove the bushing once the circlip is installed.
