Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair






Airbag Control Module J234


When working on the airbag control module (J234) always not the safety guidelines when working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units. Refer to => [ Seat Belt and Airbag Components, General Safety Precautions ] Seat Belt and Airbag Components, General Safety Precautions.

Removing

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - (1,5 Nm).

- Remove the trim - 2 - from the center console in - direction of arrow -.






It is not necessary to remove the other parts of the center console.

- Remove the nuts - 2 - (2.5 Nm).

- Remove the bracket - 1 - from the center tunnel.






Removing the right trim and the right bracket is identical.

- Open the locking mechanism - 1 - on the connector in - direction of arrow - and remove the wiring harness from the control module - 1 -.






The control module is shown in the illustration without the other components around it.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - (9 Nm).

- Remove the control module - 2 - from the center tunnel.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Turn on the ignition.


Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery.

- Code the airbag control module (J234) if it was replaced. Refer to => [ Airbag Components, Adapting ] Testing and Inspection.
