Mass Airflow Sensor (G70)

The intake air temperature sensor 2 (G299) and the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor are integrated in a single housing.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 - from the MAF sensor.

- Disconnect the connecting pipe from the MAF sensor.

- Remove both bolts from the MAF sensor and carefully remove the sensor from the upper air filter housing.

Installing

For efficient MAF sensor operation, it is very important to follow the following notes and procedures.

If the air filter element is very dirty or soaked, dirt particles or moisture may have contaminated the MAF sensor and may be causing false MAF values. This results in a reduction of power, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.

Always use an original equipment air filter element. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

Use a lubricant (silicone free) for installing the connecting pipe.

The connections and the hoses must be free of oil and grease before being installed. Use a silicone free lubricant when installing.

Install only approved clamps for securing hose connections. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Check the MAF sensor and intake air duct (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt, and leaves.

- Check the intake passages up to the air filter element for dirt. If any contaminants are discovered, clean the air filter housing (upper and lower parts) of salt residue, dirt and leaves (if necessary, clean by washing or vacuuming). Air filter element removing and installing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Element ] Service and Repair.

Further installation is in the reverse sequence to removal.

- Replace the O-ring.

- Tighten the bolts to 3.5 Nm.
