Instrument Panel Crossmember






Instrument Panel Crossmember

Removing

It may be helpful to make drawings or take photos of any wires that are going to be loosened, removed and then installed. This assures the wires will be reconnected correctly.

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel ] Instrument Panel.

- Remove the wiper arms.

- Remove the plenum chamber cover.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - inside the plenum chamber (20 Nm).






- Remove the expanding pins - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove the defroster channel - 5 - from the instrument panel crossmember - 4 -.

- Remove the air distribution - 3 - from the heater and air conditioner.






- Disconnect the steering column from the crossmember.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (20 Nm).






Mark the height and side position of the crossmember - 2 - in the vehicle around the nuts - 1 - and centering pin - 3 -.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - on the driver side (20 Nm).






Mark the height and side position of the crossmember - 1 - in the vehicle around the nuts - 2 - and centering pin - 3 -.

- Remove the nut - 2 - (20 Nm) on the front passenger side.






- Remove the harness connector mountings from the crossmember, depending on the equipment level of the vehicle.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - (4,5 Nm).

- Remove the nuts - 2 - (9 Nm).

- Loosen the instrument panel crossmember - 3 - in direction of - arrow - and pull it slightly to the rear.

- Carefully remove the instrument panel crossmember - 3 - from the vehicle with a second technician.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Before installing the instrument panel crossmember, line it up with the markings made before it was removed.

Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary.
