Parking Brake Lever Trim

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Puller (T10055)

• Seal Installer (T10136/1)

• Removal Wedge (3409)

• Cartridge Heater (V.A.G1939A)

Removing

- Unclip the front trim from the parking brake lever - 1 - - arrow -.






Vehicles equipped with a plastic handle






- Set the parking brake.

- Fold the parking brake lever trim - 1 - up and over the handle.

- Position the (T10055) - 3 - on the handle - 1 -.

- Remove the handle and the trim piece from the parking brake lever - 2 -.

- Carefully pull the parking brake lever trim off of the handle.

- Set the parking brake.

- Pull the parking brake lever trim - 1 - on the parking brake lever up and over so that it is "inside-out" - 2 - and pull it over the handle.

- Carefully unclip the parking brake lever trim- 1 - on the handle - arrow - and pull it off.

- Position the (T10055) - 1 - on the handle - 2 -.






- Use the (T10055) to pull the handle - 2 - off of the parking brake lever - 3 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:


Do not reuse the handle for the parking brake lever.

- Set the parking brake.

• Put the handle and the parking brake lever trim onto the parking brake lever.

• Pay attention to the direction of installation before installing the parking brake lever trim!

- Remove the handle - 2 - and adhesive strip - arrows - to prevent damage.

- Install the handle and the parking brake lever trim with the (T10136/1) - 1 -.

- Move the handle and the parking brake lever trim - 1 - carefully up the parking brake lever until dimension - a - is reached.






Dimension (a) = 10 mm ± 1 mm

- Remove the adhesive tape.






- Install the parking brake lever trim- 1 - in the center console and clip it into the front - arrow -.

Vehicles equipped with a leather handle

• Put the handle on the parking brake lever but omit the parking brake lever trim.

• Pay attention to the direction of installation before installing the parking brake lever trim!

- Use the (V.A.G 1939A) to heat the handle up for 15 minutes.

- Slide the handle onto the parking brake lever until it hits the end stop.

- Pull the parking brake lever trim - 1 - up and over the handle.






- Install the parking brake lever trim- 1 - in the groove - arrow A - on the handle.

- Install the parking brake lever trim - 1 - in the center console and clip it into the front - arrow B -.
