ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit Overview






1 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• Master brake cylinder/primary piston circuit for the ABS hydraulic unit (N55).

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1

2 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• Master brake cylinder/secondary piston circuit for the ABS hydraulic unit (N55).

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1

3 Brake Booster

• On gasoline engines, the required vacuum is supplied either by the intake manifold or by a mechanical vacuum pump.

• Functional check:

- Forcefully press brake pedal several times with engine switched off. This dissipates any vacuum present in the unit.

- Press and hold brake pedal with average foot pressure and start engine. If brake booster is working properly, pedal will be felt to give slightly under foot (booster assistance becomes effective).

• If malfunctioning: replace as complete unit.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Booster ] Brake Booster.

4 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• To left rear brake caliper/brake cylinder.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1

5 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• To the right rear brake caliper/brake cylinder.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M10 x 1

6 Rubber Insulation

• Do not press the rubber bushings out of the bracket when installing the mount.

7 Bracket

• Is attached to the body.

8 Nut

• 8 Nm

• Quantity: 2

9 Bolt

• 8 Nm

• Quantity: 2

10 Bracket

11 ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ ABS Control Module (J104) and ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) ] ABS Control Module (J104) and ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55).

12 Bolt

• 5.5 Nm

• Quantity: 3

• Always replace if removed.

13 ABS Control Module (J104)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ ABS Control Module (J104) and ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) ] ABS Control Module (J104) and ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55).

14 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• ABS hydraulic unit (N55) for the master brake cylinder/primary piston circuit.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1

15 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• To left front brake caliper.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M10 x 1

16 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• To right front brake caliper.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1

17 Brake Line

• 14 Nm

• ABS hydraulic unit (N55) for the master brake cylinder/secondary piston circuit.

• Identification: Pipe bolt with thread M12 x 1
