Instrument Panel






Instrument Panel

Removing

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove driver airbag unit. Refer to => [ Driver Airbag ] Driver Airbag.

- Remove the steering wheel.

- Remove the instrument panel cover on each side. Refer to => [ Side Instrument Panel Covers ] Side Instrument Panel Covers.

- Remove the A-pillar center trim. Refer to => [ Center A-Pillar Trim ] Center A-Pillar Trim.

- Remove the A-pillar upper trim. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Upper A-Pillar Trim.

- Remove center console:

Comfort and Highline refer to => [ Center Console - Comfort and Highline ] Center Console - Comfort and Highline.

- Remove the instrument panel trim and the left and center instrument panel vents. Refer to => [ Instrument Cluster Trim, Left and Center Instrument Panel Vents ] Instrument Cluster Trim, Left and Center Instrument Panel Vents.

- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment ] Glove Compartment.

- Remove the steering column trim. Refer to => [ Steering Column Trim ] Service and Repair

- Remove the steering column electronics control module (J527).

- Remove the airbag spiral spring/return spring with slip ring (F138).

- Remove the steering angle sensor (G85).

- Remove the turn signal switch (E2).

- Remove the windshield wiper switch (E).

- Remove the instrument cluster.

- Remove the left driver side instrument panel cover. Refer to => [ Driver Side Instrument Panel Cover ] Driver Side Instrument Panel Cover.

Vehicles without Climatronic

- Remove the instrument panel center trim (vehicles without Climatronic). Refer to => [ Instrument Panel Center Trim, Vehicles without Climatronic ] Instrument Panel Center Trim, Vehicles without Climatronic.

- Remove the heater controls.

Vehicles with Climatronic

- Remove the instrument panel center trim (vehicles with Climatronic). Refer to => [ Instrument Panel Center Trim, Vehicles with Climatronic ] Instrument Panel Center Trim, Vehicles with Climatronic.

- Remove the Climatic (or Climatronic) controls.

- If equipped, remove the sunlight photo sensor (G107) or sunlight photo sensor 2 (G134).

Vehicles with Radio System

- Remove the radio.

Vehicles with Navigation

- Remove the navigation display and controls.

Vehicles with Cell Phone Mount on Instrument Panel

- Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the cell phone mount.

All Vehicles

- Remove the screws - 1 -, - 3 - and - 4 - from the instrument panel - 2 - (1.5 Nm).






- Remove the screws - 2 - and - 3 - from the instrument panel - 1 - (1.5 Nm).






- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the front passenger airbag.

- Remove the screw - 3 - from the instrument panel - 1 - (9 Nm).






- Remove the instrument panel - 2 - from the mounts near the windshield and from the instrument panel crossmember - 1 -.

- Depending on the vehicle equipment level, disconnect the wiring harnesses and remove the instrument panel - 2 - with a second technician.






Installation

Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary.

- Make sure the mounts - 1 - are installed with stud bolts - 2 - before installing the instrument panel.






- Mount the instrument panel - 1 - onto the instrument panel crossmember - 1 - with a second technician.






- Install in reverse order of removal.
