Subframe, Securing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Engine/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Locating Pins (T10096)
• Locating Pins (T10452)
Perform the Following Work
The (T10096) and (T10452) have different diameters.
The color differentiates them:
• (T10096) are BLACK.
• (T10452) are SILVER.
To locate subframe, (T10452) must be screwed in one after the other on both sides of the vehicle at positions - 3 - and - 4 -.
• (T10452) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the locating bolts will be damaged.
The (T10096) must be installed in locations - 1 - and - 2 - one after the other.
• (T10096) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the locating bolts will be damaged.
Installing (T10452)
- Remove the front bolt - 3 -.
- Install the (T10452) - 1 - and tighten it to 20 Nm.
(T10452) are SILVER.
- Remove the front bolt - 4 -.
- Install the (T10452) and tighten it to 20 Nm.
Installing (T10096)
- Remove the rear bolt - 1 -.
- Install the (T10096) - 1 - and tighten it to 20 Nm.
(T10096) are BLACK.
- Remove the rear bolt - 2 -.
- Install the (T10096) and tighten it to 20 Nm.
Position of front axle is now secured.
Continue removing the subframe without the steering gear. Refer to => [ Remove the steering gear bolts and. ] Front Suspension.
Continue removing the subframe with the hydraulic steering gear. Refer to => [ under the subframe. ] Subframe with Hydraulic Steering Gear.
Continue removing the subframe with the electromechanical steering gear. Refer to => [ under the subframe. ] Subframe with Electromechanical Steering Gear.
Continue with removing stabilizer. Refer to => [ Remove the stabilizer from subframe and ] Stabilizer Bar.
Power steering gear, removing and installing, refer to => [ Steering Gear ] Steering Gear.
Remove the (T10096) and (T10452).
Remove the (T10096) and (T10452) in reverse order of installing.
