Rocker Panel Extension, GLI

• The following described removing and installing the left rocker panel extension. Removing and installing the right rocker panel extension is identical.

Removing






- Open the clips - 3 - and remove them from the rocker panel extension - 1 - - arrow a -.

- Warm the tape - 4 - on the top of the rocker panel extension - 1 - using hot air gun (V.A.G 1416).

- Carefully loosen the tape - 4 - between the sill panel and the rocker panel extension - 1 - using a plastic wedge.

- Push the rocker panel extension - 1 - forward - arrows b - until it can be removed from the 5 bolts - 2 - - arrows c -.

Screw Dimensions

• The bolts for the rocker panel extension are corrosion-resistant. They do not need to be treated.

• A bolt must be replaced by a " black" oversize bolt if it was over-torqued.






• There are no holes for the bolts.

- Measure the required holes for the bolt using the following table ().

- Punch the locations for the holes and then use a 1.5 mm drill bit to drill the holes.

• Dimension - a - is measured including the front wheel housing liner. Dimensions - b - through - e - are always measured from the center hole.

• Dimension - f - is measured on the center hole.






Installation

Assembly Information

• If removing the rocker panel extension, only use the adhesive remover (D 002 000 10) to remove the adhesive residue.

• Make sure there is no dust or grease on the adhesive surfaces.

• Install the rocker panel extension immediately after cleaning.

• Remove off the peel-off backing just before installing the rocker panel extension.

• The temperature must be approximately 21 °C.






• There are 5 holes for the bolts - 2 -.

- Follow the installation instructions.

- Install the self-tapping bolts - 2 - into the holes.

Tightening specification - 2 -: 1.2 Nm

- Mount the rocker panel extension - 1 - so that the openings on the back are lined up over the bolts - 2 - until the rocker panel extension is touching the sill panel evenly - arrows a -.

- Push the rocker panel extension - 1 - all the way toward the back onto the bolts - 2 - - arrows b -.

- Press the clips - 3 - into the rocker panel extension - 1 - - arrow c - until the click into place.

- Remove off the peel-off backing on the stop of the rocker panel extension - 1 - from the adhesive strip - 4 - and press the it firmly onto the sill panel.
