Ribbed Belt Pulley with Free-Running Hub, Valeo
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Multi-point adapter (VAS 3400)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Torx(R) key (V.A.G1603/1)
When disconnecting and connecting the Battery, the procedure must be followed as described in the Repair Information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Removal
- Remove the generator.
- Secure the generator in a vice by the mounting points.
- Remove the protective cap from the ribbed belt pulley with freewheel.
• An arrow on the front gear carrier (direction of ribbed belt pulley rotation) on the generator shows the rotation direction of the generator. Turn the multipoint adapter (VAS 3400) when removing and installing.
- Insert the (VAS 3400) into the pulley with ribbed belt pulley with free-running hub for the generator using and box-end wrench.
- Insert the (V.A.G1603/1) into the generator shaft.
- Loosen the threaded connection by turning it in the opposite direction of the arrow on the Generator while counterholding it with the box-end wrench.
- Hold the ribbed belt pulley with freewheel in place by hand and turn it at the generator input shaft until the ribbed belt pulley can be removed with freewheel.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Attach the ribbed belt pulley with freewheel to the generator input shaft all the way by hand.
(V.A.G 1332) must be rearranged for installing ribbed belt pulley with freewheel as follows:
- Release the insert - 1 - and pull it from the handle - 2 -.
- Turn the handle - 2 - on the (V.A.G 1332) 180 degrees and install the bit.
- Set the turn direction (V.A.G 1332) to the left.
- Insert the (V.A.G 1603/1) into the generator shaft.
- Counterhold the (VAS 3400) with the box-end wrench.
- Turn the input shaft on the generator in direction of arrow using (V.A.G 1332) and tighten the ribbed belt pulley with freewheel.
- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specifications. Refer to 2.5L => [ Generator Overview ] Generator Overview or 2.0L TDI => [ Generator Overview ] Generator Overview.
