Always read the General Safety Precautions before working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnical components). Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions.

Pay attention especially to the instructions for belt tensioners. Refer to => [ Belt Tensioner, Special Instructions ] Belt Tensioner, Special Instructions.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - (40 Nm) and remove belt anchor - 2 - from body.

The screw - 1 - may be micro-encapsulated and must be heated using a hot air gun before loosening. While doing this, protect the neighboring seat belt against excessive heat with a moist towel.

If the screw is micro-encapsulated, it must be replaced every time it is loosened.

Before installing the new bolt, threads on nut must be cleaned, re-cut if necessary.

- Remove screw - 3 - (40 Nm) and remove automatic belt retractors - 4 - from B-pillar.

Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore the technician must discharge static electricity from the body before separating the ignition and ground wiring. This is done, for example, by briefly touching the body or the door striker or pin.

- Disconnect wiring harness - 5 -.

- Remove bolts - 6 - (4.5 Nm) and belt guide - 7 -.

- Remove the bolt - 8 - (40 Nm) and remove the belt relay - 9 - from belt height adjuster.
