Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527)

After installing a new steering column electronics control module, it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), Coding ] Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), coding.

If steering column switch malfunctions occur, the coding of the steering column electronics control module must be checked. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), Coding ] Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), coding.

Removing

- Remove bolt - 1 -.







Do NOT try to remove the Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module without loosening the center securing clip as described in the next step. The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module would be damaged.

- On the steering column electronic systems control module, slide, for example, a wire or a 2.5 mm diameter drill - 2 - approximately 45 mm (1.75 in.) into the hole - arrow 1 -, whereby the retaining detent is released - arrow 2 -.

- Push the rear clip - arrow - on the steering column electronic systems control module.






- Remove the steering column electronic systems control module carefully downward from the steering column switch.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.






- Remove the connector lock - 3 - from the connector.

- Disconnect the connector - 2 -.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Make sure the pins are not bent and that the connector audibly engages.
