Relay Carrier on Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519), from MY 10

The relay carrier is clipped to the bottom of the vehicle electrical system control module and can be removed.


Always follow the instructions regarding disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Removal

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Remove the trim on the driver side.

- Remove the left footwell lamp (W9). Refer to => [ Footwell Lamps (W9)/(W10) ] Footwell Lamps (W9)/(W10).

The wiring for the left footwell lamp and the diagnostic socket can remain connected.

- Remove the knee airbag in the driver footwell.

- Remove the metal traverse above the knee airbag.

- Release the tabs - arrows - and remove the relay panel - 2 - from the vehicle electrical system control module - 1 - opposite the drive direction toward the rear.






- Swivel the relay panel downward and unclip the relay. Be careful of the different wire lengths still connected.

Installation

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Install in reverse order.
