CD Changer: Service and Repair
CD Changer
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Radio Removal Tools (3316)
• The CD changer is not faulty if the CD changer plays commercially available CDs, but not self-burned CDs. Replacing the CD changer for this reason is not permitted.
• Mix CDs (CDs that contain computer data and also music) cannot be played.
• Music CDs with 8 cm diameter (mini-discs) cannot be played back.
• When replacing the CD changer, the radio functions must always be coded again.
Removing
• The CD changer is installed in the storage compartment under the center armrest.
Perform the following steps before starting:
- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
- Remove any CDs that may still be inside the CD changer. Refer to the Owner's Manual.
- Open the center armrest.
- Slide (3316) into slots designed for them on CD changer at left and right - arrows - until they engage audibly.
- Remove the CD changer from storage compartment using radio removal tools - arrows -.
- Press on retaining clamp - arrow - and pull out radio removal tools from removed unit.
- Disconnect the connector inside the CD changer connection.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
