Engine Speed Sensor: Service and Repair






Engine Speed Sensor G28

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Hose Clamp Pliers (VAS 6362)

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Socket 4 mm (T10370)

Removing

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Clamp off the coolant hoses from the oil cooler using the hose clamps up to 25 mm dia. (3094).






- Reposition the hose clamps - arrows - using the hose clamp pliers (VAS 6362).

Collect any leaking fluid using the drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208).

- Remove the coolant hoses from the oil cooler.

- Remove the oil filter adapter. Refer to => [ Oil Filter Adapter and Engine Oil Cooler Overview ] Oil Filter Adapter and Engine Oil Cooler Overview.

- Loosen the bolt - arrow - using the socket 4 mm (T10370) and remove the engine speed sensor.






Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Engine speed sensor bolt tightening specification, see - item 9 - in the => [ Sealing Flange and Flywheel Overview ] Sealing Flange and Flywheel Overview.

For the oil filter adapter tightening specification, refer to => [ Oil Filter Adapter and Engine Oil Cooler Overview ] Oil Filter Adapter and Engine Oil Cooler Overview.

- Check the coolant level, fill if necessary. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
