Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair






Parking Brake Cable

Removing

- Release the parking brake.

- Remove the center console.

- Loosen the adjusting nut - 1 - so far, that the brake cables - 2 - can be unhooked from the equalizer - 3 -.






- Press the lever on the brake caliper - 2 - in the - direction of the arrow - and disengage the brake cable - 3 -.






- Press the retaining tabs together - 1 - and remove the parking brake cable from the bracket on the brake caliper.

- Remove the parking brake cable - 1 - from the clamping tabs first and then completely from the bracket - 2 -.






- Disengage the parking brake cable from the bracket - 1 - and pull the hand brake cable out of the guide tube - 2 -.






Installing

- Slide the parking brake cable into the guide tube - 2 - and engage it in the bracket - 1 -.






- Insert the parking brake cable - 1 - through the opening and then clamp it on the bracket - 2 -.






- Press the parking brake cable through the bracket on the brake caliper until both retaining tabs - 1 - engage.






- Press the lever on the brake caliper - 2 - in the - direction of the arrow - and hook in the brake cable - 3 -.

The parking brake cable must be installed without tension between the bracket on the brake caliper and the bracket on the trailing arm.

- Attach the parking brake cables - 2 - to the equalizer - 3 -.






- Preload the parking brake cable using the adjusting nut - 1 -.

- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

- Install the center console.
