Steering Column Switch







Steering Column Switch

The removal and installation of individual steering column switch components must be done in a specified sequence. Refer to=> [ Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence ] Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence.

There are two versions of the steering column combination switch components, the steering column electronics control module and the steering column switch base carrier depending on the manufacturer (Valeo or Kostal). In order to determine which version is installed, check the mount for the steering column electronics control module on the steering column combination switch.

Manufactured by Valeo: 3 bolts.

Manufactured by Kostal: 1 bolt at the bottom and 2 latching mechanisms at the top.

A new Electronic steering column lock control module (J764) must be coded after installation. Refer to=> [ Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764) KESSY, Coding ] Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764) KESSY, Coding.

After installing a new Steering column electronics control module (J527) , it must be coded. Refer to=> [ Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), With KESSY, Coding ] Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527), With KESSY, Coding.

DTC Recognition and Display

The Electronic steering column lock control module (J764) has OBD capabilities that facilitate fault finding.

For fault finding, use the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B) in the "Guided fault finding" operating mode.
