Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397), Servicing, TRW

Only TRW can replace the housing and optical unit if the optical unit (coupling cushion) is damaged.

There are different housings for the rain/light recognition sensors from different manufacturers.

The sensor housing and optical unit are always delivered as a replacement part in individual parts with retaining clamps. Remove these clamps if they are not needed.

- Remove the rain sensor. Refer to => [ Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) ] Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397).

The rain sensor electronics may be damaged.

Be careful not to insert the screwdriver all the way through the housing up to the rain sensor electronics.

Do not touch the rain sensor electronics.

- Press the retaining tab - 2 - on both sides to separate the upper housing section with optical unit - 1 - from the lower housing section - 3 -.






- Remove the rain sensor electronics at the connection - 4 - from the old lower housing section and insert into the new lower housing section in the same position.

Do not touch the optical unit.

Remove the protective cover from the rain sensor just before installing it.

- Install the new upper housing section with optical unit and protective cover on the new lower housing section and lock in place.

- Pry the clip and bracket - 1 - out of the rain sensor housing - 2 - with a screwdriver.






- Install the rain sensor. Refer to => [ Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) ] Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397).
