Side Panel LED Tail Lamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Removal

• The following figures show removal and installation on the right side. The procedure for removal and installation on the left side is the same.

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

- Press on the outer corner - arrow A - of the cover - 1 -.






- Grasp behind the corner of the cover - arrow B - at the seal and carefully pull the cover up.

- When removing the cover - A -, follow sequence - 1 - through - 4 -.






- Unscrew the mounting bolt - A -.






- Pull out the luggage compartment trim - 2 - under the seal - 3 - and carefully press to the side.






- Release and disconnect the harness connector - 1 -.

- Unscrew the mounting nuts - arrows A - (16 mm) and remove the tail lamp housing outward out of the body cut-out.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Guide the wiring harness of the tail lamp inward through the body cut-out.

- During installation, insert the tail lamp housing into the guide on the body side panel => [ (Item 5) Guide Piece In Body Side Panel ] Side Panel LED Tail Lamps Overview.

- Screw on the mounting nuts - arrows A - and tighten the upper and then the lower nut to the torque specified in=> [ Side Panel LED Tail Lamps Overview ] Side Panel LED Tail Lamps Overview.






- Check the gap dimensions of the tail lamp with respect to the body and adjust as follows if necessary:

• Adjustment elements, by which the tail lamp can be aligned to the rear lid and to the side panel, are located in both threaded pins of flange nuts - A -.

Tail lamp outer edge - arrow A - can be adjusted in both directions - arrow B -.






- Turn the corresponding adjustment element - 1 - clockwise or counterclockwise until the outer edge of the tail lamp - arrow A - is flush with the body edges.

- Screw in the bolt - A - and tighten to the specification shown in=> [ Side Panel LED Tail Lamps Overview ] Side Panel LED Tail Lamps Overview.






- When unclipping the cover - A -, follow sequence - 4 - through - 1 -.






- Connect the harness connector and engage it audibly.

- Guide the luggage compartment trim back under the seal.

- After installation, check the tail lamp functions.
