Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor (V48)/(V49)

• The left headlamp beam adjustment motor (V48) and right headlamp beam adjustment motor (V49) can be checked via the output diagnostic test mode of the Cornering lamp and headlamp range control module (J745). Refer to=> [ Cornering Lamp and Headlamp Range Control Module (J745), Output Diagnostic Test Mode ] Cornering Lamp and Headlamp Range Control Module (J745), Output Diagnostic Test Mode.

• The following figures show the procedure for replacing the right headlamp beam adjustment motor.

• The left headlamp beam adjustment motor is replaced in the same manner.

Removal

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to=> [ Headlamps ] Headlamps.

- Remove the HID lamp. Refer to=> [ HID Bulb (L13)/(L14) ] HID Bulb (L13)/(L14).

- Unclip the wiring bracket - 2 - and turn the control motor - 1 - in the - direction of the arrow - to the stop.






- Tilt the ball head of the control motor out of the mount on the reflector and remove the control motor from the headlamp while paying attention to the connected wires.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.






Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Align the guide piece - 2 - in the control motor mount - 1 - as shown in the figure.






- Connect the harness connector and insert the control motor in the removal position into the mount - 1 -.

• To install the control motor, pull the reflector backward by hand.

- Tilt the ball head of the control motor into the mount on the guide piece - 2 -.

- Turn the control motor - 1 - to the left against the - direction of the arrow - to the stop to lock it in place and clip in the wiring bracket- 2 -.






- Reinstall the HID lamp and install the cap on the headlamp housing.

During installation, ensure proper seating of the cap. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.

• If a headlamp with automatic vertical headlamp range control is removed, always perform headlamp basic setting after installation.
