General Description

The following components are integrated in the instrument cluster:

Instrument cluster control module (J285)

Tachometer (G5)

Engine coolant temperature gauge (G3)

Oil level thermal sensor (G266)

Speedometer (G21)

Outside air temperature sensor (G17)

Fuel level sensor 2 (G169)

Outside air temperature sensor (G1)

Fuel level sensor (G)

Anti-Theft Immobilizer Control Module (J362)

Multifunction indicator

Indicator lamps. Refer to=> [ Instrument Cluster Indicator Lamps ] Instrument Cluster Indicator Lamps.

To audibly support the visual displays of the instrument panel insert, the control module activates a warning buzzer.

All control lamps are equipped with Light-Emitting Diodes (LED's). Servicing the instrument cluster is not planned. In the event of malfunctions, the complete instrument cluster must be replaced. Refer to=> [ Instrument Cluster, Replacing ] Instrument Cluster, Replacing.

The Data bus on board diagnostic interface (J533) (gateway) is designed as a separate control module and not a component of the instrument cluster as in various other vehicles. Refer to=> [ Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (J533) ] Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

DTC Recognition and Display

The instrument cluster is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capabilities which assists with troubleshooting.

For fault finding, use the Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in the "Guided fault finding" function.
