Gluing Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor Bracket Into Bumper Cover

Gluing Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor Bracket Into Bumper Cover

The procedure for gluing the sensor brackets into the front and rear bumper covers is the same. To assist in aligning the sensor brackets during adhesion, the bonding areas are marked on the inside of the bumper covers. If the sensor bracket is glued on at an offset >2°, it may cause ground echoes and thus detection of the road as an obstacle. Make sure that the material temperature of the bumper cover and sensor bracket is between 15° C and 25° C (59 - 77° F) during bonding.

The adhesion surfaces must be free of paint mist or other contamination.

- Clean the marked adhesive surfaces - 1 - on the inside of the bumper thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.

- Apply the bonding agent "Scotchmount 4298" evenly in the marked adhesion surface - 1 -.

- Let the bonding agent air dry for 5 minutes.

- Allocate the sensor brackets to be bonded to their proper installation location. Refer to=> [ Allocating Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor Brackets To Installation Location ] Allocating Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor Brackets To Installation Location.

- Remove the protective films from the adhesive surface - 2 - on the sensor bracket - 4 -.

- Align the sensor bracket - 4 - with respect to marked adhesive surface - 1 - so that there is a uniform edge of approximately 1 mm.

Ensure that the cut-outs for the sensor connection in the sensor bracket point in the correct direction. If sensor bracket is glued in incorrectly, connection wires for sensor are too short.

If the specification "edge of 1 mm" is not observed during bonding and the sensor bracket is glued on at an offset >2°, it may cause ground echoes and thus detection of the road as an obstacle.

- Press the sensor bracket - 4 - with significant pressure into the bumper cover for approximately 10 seconds.

The contact pressure and pressing time are crucial for the adhesive durability!

- Push the decoupling ring - 5 - onto the sensor - 6 - and install the sensor. Refer to=> [ Front Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor (G568)/(G569) ] Front Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor (G568)/(G569)or => [ Rear Parking Aid Warning Buzzer (H15) ] Rear Parking Aid Warning Buzzer (H15).
