Front Parallel Parking Assistance Sensor (G568)/(G569)

The parallel parking assistance sensors are located in the front and rear bumper cover. Both parallel parking assistance sensors sit on the side outermost position of the bumper covers. They are used during the parking operation together with the parking aid sensors for distance measurement.

The following parallel parking assistance sensors are located in the front bumper cover:

• Left front parallel parking assistance sensor (G568)

• Right front parallel parking assistance sensor (G569)

Removal

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

- Remove the front bumper cover.

Always follow the sequence for removing the sensor.

Otherwise, the sensor may be damaged. Hairline cracks which lead to sensor failure can develop if too much force is used on the sensor.

Remove the sensor from the bracket and then disconnect the sensor connectors.

- Press the locking mechanisms - 2 - on the sensor bracket outward.






- Pull the sensor - 1 - backward out of the sensor bracket with the wires connected.

• When removing the sensor, make sure that the decoupling ring (black silicone ring) remains on the sensor head and does not remain in the bracket or get lost.

• Do not stretch the decoupling ring.

- Release and disconnect the harness connector - 2 - and remove the sensor - 1 -.






Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

An incorrect or damaged decoupling ring can lead to malfunctions.

Do not stretch the decoupling ring.

Replace damaged decoupling rings and ensure that the correct ring is installed.

• Since the lengths of the sensor heads of the front parking aid sensor and the parallel parking assistance sensor are different, the installed high decoupling rings are also different.

- Make sure the correct decoupling ring is installed on the sensor head.











- Replace the sensor decoupling ring - 1 - if necessary.

• When installing the sensor, make sure the decoupling ring is correctly mounted on the sensor head and that it does not fall off or roll up when being inserted into the sensor bracket.

• Both retaining tabs of the sensor bracket must audibly engage when installing the sensor.

- Make sure the sensor is seated correctly in the bracket after installation. Dimension - a - for the circular gap between the sensor head and bumper cover must be even all around on the outer side of the bumper cover.
